Unemployment of a young generation currently represents a problem for the whole Europe. We mistakenly believe that this fact applies only to immigrants and foreigners. Yes, undoubtedly a part of foreigners who find themselves in a different country with a different economic standards, takes part. However, we don’t have to go far to see that for example in Greece or Spain the number of unemployed young people (between 18 and 25 years) reaches over 50 percent. In the Czech Republic, despite the (still) low percentage, according to experts this problem will get worse.

According to data from the World Bank, in the next ten years, the European market will get more than a billion young unemployed people. Unpreparedness and a lack of education is the cause of this problem and it is recent.

One billion? It is more than appropriate to prepare young people for their arrival on the labor market, to better educate and prepare them. Understanding their own qualities and abilities can help those “newborns” among employees to be able to maintain their job positions and gain the necessary confidence.

Live2Work project aims to prepare youth, who are affected by this problem, via psychological group courses, and to help them successfully integrate into society, thereby reducing not only the number of unemployed, but more the number of young people, who literally lives day by day. Thanks to the methods of a positive psychology they can realize their strengths, enhance characters and develop skills. The project involved several partners’ schools (and you are right, PELICAN represents one of them), education institutions or even people who are directly involved in this issue and works with youth.

The number of families, which move to a strange country, is rising every year. For most of them the main purpose is possibility of having better life standards, and not only for adults, but especially for their children.

If you are a grown-up, understand this situation is easier than while being a child. Children’s way of thinking is on a different level, as same different as their points of view, super sensitive, very perceptive. And the process of integration into a different community can easily become a problem.

Imagine a library, whose content’s variety could offer children understanding for a completely different environment, habits and traditions of the country they just moved in. Via entertaining contributions, it would help them develop mutual intercultural apprehension and support ethnic background and cultural‘s pride for children from ethical minorities.

MultiLib’s output would be 24 children e-books, 6 of them in european languages and 12 in immigrants‘ national languages. Interactive illustrations would provide easy use and working with the story, not only for children, but as well for lectors thanks to handbooks. For every partnership country’s language and ethnical minorities‘ language would be written 2 books– a first one traditional, belonging to the cultural basis of the nation and a second one, modern.

Why is project MultiLib relevant? The increasing number of multi-ethnical classes leads to new requirements also onto primary schools‘ teachers, so it is necessary to provide them tools, which would help them with the variousity in their classrooms.

We want to understand projects we participate in. It is the only possible way of extending its purpose where it will be useful.

This time our journey lead us to Copenhagen for a workshop of a project Live2Work, whose main output is a positive change in lives of young people, whose basic or substandard education limits them while finding a job or keeping it.

The purpose of the project is to develop the right implements and methods, which will help for example non profit-making organizations’ employees who educate those social groups. Sadly, it is not hard to find young people, especially foreigners, who are limited by lack of education and general overview. This often leads to an unemployment or inability to comply requirements on employees and because of this living situation those people literally survive by the day, without any prospect and possibility of getting a perspective job opportunity.

Methods of education, which are the main objective of this project, are going to be a great service for national employment services, social educationalists or lectors in this highly serious and sensitive area in all of the partnership countries which are taking part in this project.

We are aware of how much not only  undertaking a retraining course but also gaining a self-esteem represents a huge life-important change which will help to re-integrate into a society. Developing SOFT SKILS and acquiring basic knowledge of a law and economical system will help those young people on their way to a brighter future.
