Are you starting university this fall and want to improve your Czech language skills? Or are you planning to take a one-year Czech course for foreigners and want to get a head start? Then this intensive Czech language course is just for you!
The summer intensive Czech language course is primarily intended for international students or foreigners who want to quickly learn Czech before beginning their studies at a university in the Czech Republic. This intensive Czech language course helps students achieve the language proficiency needed for their studies, communication, and everyday life.
The course runs from July 1 to September 30 and is very intensive. Students attend classes five days a week (Monday to Friday) and have four 45-minute lessons each day.
In total, the course consists of 260 teaching hours, which allows students to make significant progress in a short period of time.
Classes can be held in two ways: in person (in the classroom at Lidická 9) or online (remotely via Zoom). The format is usually chosen based on student interest or the current situation.
The course is divided according to the students’ language level:

A0/A1 – complete beginners or students with basic knowledge

A2/B1 – students with an intermediate level
These levels are based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which is used throughout Europe to assess language proficiency.
Classes are taught using the textbooks Krok za krokem 1 for students at the A0/A1 level and Krok za krokem 2 for students at the A2/B1 level. These textbooks focus on the systematic development of all language skills—reading, writing, listening, and speaking—and are commonly used in Czech language instruction for foreigners.
The main benefits of the course include intensive learning, which enables rapid language improvement; preparation for university studies in Czech; and small study groups (around 10 students), which allow more room for communication while ensuring a more personalized approach from the teacher. Another benefit is the option of online classes for students from abroad.
At PELICAN, you study in small groups of usually 8 to 10 people, which ensures personalized attention.
Our recruitment and curriculum team ensures that our courses are taught by skilled Czech language instructors. We often rotate instructors throughout the course to keep the lessons engaging.
