HI-GLOBE

What should a global citizen look like? For example, as a global citizen, you should have a critical thinking, entrepreneurial mindset, you should be creative, responsible, informed, active in civic and social life or you should just have forward-looking skills and gain experiences that are useful for your future.

Description of the project

HI-GLOBE intends to use the potential of language learning to gain all these competence. The participants want to identify and develop the best possible pedagogies for learning English that can support the idea that language learning will be not only a goal but a tool for the further development of individuals towards a more sustainable society. Moreover, citizens who speak more languages can integrate more easily in another country for study and work.

Educational web-based platform

One of the outputs will be an innovative educational website for adult English learners and their educators. The new platform will be interactive and playful with an intercultural context. The site will provide open access and free materials including two 40-hour modules full of interactive and engaging exercises. The use of digital technologies in learning English is crucial in this project.

Global Education

The project is part of the Global Education approach introduced by the Council of Europe. This approach reflects an increasingly connected and globalized world. Its goal is to help learners understand and discuss complex social, ecological, political, and economic issues. At the same time, Global Education tries to encourage new ways of thinking and enable people to develop new knowledge, skills, values, and attitudes.

Project Partners

Language School PELICAN works together with organizations across Europe which have different profile and expertise. This transnational context offers the unique opportunity to create a methodology that will help adult learners and their educators throughout Europe.
